Peter Do, the master of tailoring, has just presented his first official menswear collection.
Since the designer’s previous work has embraced gender fluidity, ambiguity, and flexibility—and his designs have certainly been worn by men (particularly his architectural, subtly oversized outerwear)—this collection marks the first time Do has created a designated menswear collection, shown on the runway alongside women’s.
Do's designs are a masterclass in balance. While there’s nothing traditional about his creations, he knows the rules of sartorial tradition inside and out, and so is able to break them with exacting precision. He combines familiar categories, layers them up and twists them around, deconstructs them just enough to make you feel like you’re seeing something new without ever losing their sense of familiarity. Silhouettes echo across menswear and womenswear pieces—a classic jacket has fewer buttons or an emphasized asymmetry that makes it feel modern. Sparkling unisex heeled boots inject a bit of unexpected glam into the collection.
The collection is a natural extension of the brand's previous work, with a strong focus on the importance of the relationship between form and function in industrial design. There is also an emphasis on simplicity and elegance, which has always been one of the hallmarks of Peter Do's designs. The end result is a range of pieces that are functional works of art, each one unique but all part of an aesthetic vision that knows no bounds.
We're confident you'll love them as much as we do!
